6/18-22/2008 - Department of Illinois Annual Department Convention will be held at the Decatur Convention Center (formerly the Holiday Inn) 4191 W. U.S. Hwy 36, Decatur, IL 62522 217 422-8800. 6/18/2007 - Marine For Life Luncheon will be held at Gibson's Steakhouse, 1028 N. Rush St., Chicago, IL. Networking and cash bar will begin at 1130 with lunch, introductions, announcements and additional networking to follow. Cost is $25.00 for lunch, dessert, iced tea/coffee and gratuity. $10.00 for Marines in uniform. Please RSVP by Monday June 13,to: edcorralM4L@yahoo.com. 6/27-29/2008 - The 4th Annual PFC Geoffrey Morris Fishing Tournament will be held at the Waukegan Harbor. For information, please call Kirk Morris at 1 847 263-4188. Click here for the Tournament information site. SCHEDULE: Thursday 26th Captains meeting, Friday and Saturday 27th - 28th Fish, Fish, Fish. Sunday the 29th, some of the Charter Captains will take out our veterans for a day of fishing then return to shore for a get together.
7/12/2008 - 2nd Annual R. L. Pittman Marine Corps League Detachment Motorcycle Raffle and Toys for Tots Poker Run to be held in Savoy, IL. Events kick off at 0830 with an "all you can eat" breakfast for $5, followed by our Toys for Tots Poker Run at 1100. Following the Poker Run, we will have a bike show and then start the drawing for our 2008 Screaming Eagle Springer Softail at 1630. Registration for the Poker Run will be available on our website www.cumarines.org within the next few days. Bike tickets are $100.00 each and only 500 will be sold. This bike is extremely rare and we had a hard time finding one. In addition to the bike, we will be giving out 21 cash prizes ranging from $100.00 to $1000.00. Purchase a ticket by April 15th and your name will be entered into a drawing for one of two free tickets to be given away. You can see the bike on our website.

8/1-3/2008 - Alexian Brothers "Tour of Elk Grove 2008" cycling event. For the first time, this event will have a beneficiary, the Soldiers Memorial Fund which provides scholarships for graduating high school students and financial assistance to The Heart of a Marine Foundation.
